Hey there, it's Jeff. Welcome to my Friends for Life Bike Rally page!
This year I am so excited (and a little nervous) to be supporting the Friends for Life Bike Rally, which does incredible work for people living with HIV/AIDS.
I heard about the ride from my friend Nestor, who completed the ride last year, and only had wonderful things to say about his experience. I decided to join as Road Support to get an idea of what the ride entails, and to help support the riders who will be covering a massive 600KM to get from Toronto to Montreal. What a feat!
In preparation for the ride, I had a chance to hear from some of the people who use the services of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA), and their experiences of living with or supporting someone with AIDS. I hadn't realized that the number of people living with AIDS in Canada has been growing--from 2022 to 2023, there was a 35.2% increase (StatsCan). Being something that still affects so many Canadians, it is crucial to support organizations like PWA, which provide food, wellness care, peer support, and gathering spaces for those affected.
With this in mind, I hope you will support my fundraising efforts with a donation. Truly no amount is too small, and every little bit helps!
Let me know if you have any questions with regards to donating or the ride itself. You can check out my socials (@jmcgilton) to see some live updates throughout the week.
