I'm Riding 600km for People With HIV/AIDS--Will You Support Me?
This summer, I’ll be cycling from Toronto to Montreal (600kmin 6 days!) in support of Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA),Trellis HIV & Community Care, and AIDS Community Care Montréal (ACCM).
I’m deeply moved by the essential and much-needed work PWA does in my neighbourhood. For so many people, PWA is their only safety net. They provide food programs, wellness care, peer support, and practical services to over 2,200 people living with HIV/AIDS every year.
While HIV is no longer the death sentence it once was, the fight is far from over. The stigma around HIV is so powerful that many people living with it avoid seeking help from general agencies out of fear of discrimination—despite the fact that, with proper treatment and support, people living with HIV can live long and healthy lives.
Furthermore, we know now that U=U (Undetectable=Untransmittable) –if someone’s HIV viral load is undetectable and they’re on regular HIV treatment, they can’t pass HIV on sexually. But in order to achieve undetectability, people living with HIV depend daily on expensive medications, safe and affordable housing, accessible medical care, a livable income and a caring community.
This makes HIV-specific organizations like PWA,Trellis, and ACCM absolutely vital. They offer a safe and welcoming space where people can access support without judgment. With more testing, better support, and less stigma,we can stop the spread and ensure people living with HIV have access to the care they need.
Your donations directly supporting PWA, Trellis, and ACCM and ensure that support will be there for the people living with HIV.
Every donation helps!
- $25 provides a meal voucher for someone facing food insecurity.
- $40 covers transportation for 10 people to attend medical appointments
- $60 funds a peer-led support group for people living with HIV.
- $100 helps someone access life-saving medication they couldn’t otherwise afford.
- $200 provides groceries for one family for a week.
Please consider making a donation to support my ride. Together,we can fight stigma, improve lives, and ensure no one is left behind.
Thank you for your support!
