I'm back at it!

As I have for the last 21 years, I'm continuing to help support the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation, as its client base grows in size and need. Along with over 300 other cyclists I will ride and camp over six days from Toronto to Montreal. In addition to cycling the distance, I share volunteer responsibilities for training new riders in winter spin sessions, reviewing Spring training routes, running clinics for road confidence, climbing and maintenance and newbie safety zooms. It’s an amazing enterprise, mostly volunteer run, that brings riders back repeatedly with its warm, inclusive culture and effective fundraising results. 

My job as a rider, beyond getting myself to Montreal, is to raise funds for PWA Toronto, so this is my pitch for donations. Any amount is gratefully received! 

For donors who are local, easy to reach and are feeling flush, I offer incentives. For a donation of $100, I will bake you a dozen cookies, for a donation of $250, a pie or produce a small piece of art (and the art can be sent anywhere!).

PS You will see a romantic depiction of the ride in the video on the ride’s site. It really is that wonderful at times. To be realistic, the video does not show the mornings we push into cold, driving rain, the hot slog up the heartbreaking hills west of Port Hope, that final push on the longest day, or the challenges of “Spider Camp” on day 5. But with all that, our memories filter the challenging moments out and we come back, some of us year after year.
