Welcome to this year's Friends for Life Bike Rally page!
Can you believe it's been 8 years?! I started doing the Friends for Life Bike rally the same year I started nursing. I've cycled the 600km several times and this will be my third year on the Wellness crew, and my second time co-leading with Albert. We've assembled a delightful team and we are so happy to be out providing support for the 300+ riders who have chosen to come along on this journey.
I love this week long event because we get to spend time with great people doing a great thing for our community. HIV is not over. We've made tremendous strides since the crisis of the 80s and 90's, but there's till lots to do. The rally raises money for local people with local problems. The money we raise helps connect people living with HIV to:
-life changing medication
-housing
-food
-legal services
-and wellness programing
The world got way more expensive and having to choose between meds, food, or housing isn't a choice. Anyone who was struggling before, needs help to manage now. While gay men were the most affected by the AIDS crisis before, the HIV community has expanded and now it's most often indigenous women and women of colour who are in need.
Donating any amount adds up to make a big difference. No amount is too small...No amount is too big either! I thank you in advance for helping me help our community be a warmer, safer, more stigma free place.
And hey! If you want to join us for the ride, or help out on crew jump in! I promise you, this event is life changing. You don't stay involved in something for 8 years for with a good reason.
So, help us make this corner of the world just a little bit brighter. Donate today!
