My name is Greg, and I’m a third-year rider with Friends for Life. Growing up, I loved going on cycling trips with my father along Ontario’s Waterfront Trail network. Cycling from Toronto to Montreal (600 km) is my longest trek so far.
When I started riding, I often had difficulty being alone with my thoughts. I struggled with anxiety and the gnawing feeling that I ought to be achieving something more with my life than what I've done so far. Cycling has taught me to focus less on destination, personal accomplishment and the future, and focus more on the journey, personal growth and being present.
In addition to spending time with a community of incredible people and challenging myself, I also get the opportunity help people living with HIV - and I need your help! I'm aiming to raise $5,000 this year. I match every donation with my own money, up to a maximum of $2,500.
COVID showed us how vulnerable we all are in a pandemic. It’s the same for people living with HIV, an ongoing pandemic that doesn’t elicit the kind of widespread attention it once did. That makes the work of organizations like the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation even more important. Your donation ensures that family, friends and neighbours living with HIV can access free supports, nutritious food, medical care and advocacy.
Donations can be made by credit card through this secure fundraising page. If you would like to donate cash or cheque, please contact me at gbeneteau@gmail.com
Together, we can make a real difference in our community. Our friends are counting on us!
