Welcome to my Friends for Life Bike Rally fundraising page!
My name is Ian, also known as Rowena Whey. I have been a part of the bike rally as a participant and supporter for 7 years! It's my third year in a row doing the entire ride, and this marks 6 years of Drag in he Park.
I am BEYOND excited.
Two Drag in the Park fundraisers are coming this year on June 9th, and August 4th (in Kingston after day 3 of the rally). Three days of biking, then hosting a drag show, then 3 more days of biking? I think that deserves a small donation don't you?
This year the bike rally is from August 2th to 7th, with stops in Port Hope, Adolphustown, Kingston, Johnstown, Lancaster, and finally Montreal for pride. The Drag in the Park fundraiser takes place August 6th in Kingston at Confederation Basin. It's free, and family-friendly, but donations are encouraged.
Your donations go directly back into the Kingston, ON community I call home through Trellis HIV and Community Care (formerly HARS). Trellis is a safer space providing stigma-free HIV/AIDS education, Harm Reduction, and support services across Kingston and South Eastern Ontario. They are also responsible for spearheading the Community Care Hub, and have been making positive impacts on the lives of people in Kingston and the surrounding area since 1988.
As a member of the 2SLGBTQIA* community I believe it is important to highlight not only the struggles of those with, but also those without the regular supports that many of us take for granted. Access to food, healthcare, friends/family support, or just that feeling of safety and security. Many individuals who benefit from these donations are refugees and immigrants who have come from countries where just being queer is a death sentance, or life in prison.
